Poster and web banner advertisement for Air Guitar event

Every year there is a World Air Guitar Championship in Oulu, Finland. Potential competitors go through regional and national competitions with the hopes of heading to Finland.

About the Project

I created this poster to represent Air Guitar competitor King Bing in his attempt at the world record for longest air guitar. As the date and location had not been set, I developed a fictional venue and created a logo to represent it, then placed it into the poster.

One of the greatest challenges I faced with this poster was how to portray an “air guitar’ without having an actual guitar in the graphic. I solved this by created a concert like environment and highlighting the outline of the guitar with a neon glow.

Two Mediums

Since word of competitive Air Guitar is largely spread online, it was deemed necessary to have a web banner as well as a poster to promote the event. The web banner was designed to incite curiousity as a call-to-action encouraging users to click.
